RENI MINISTRIES HOSTS 2nd NATIONAL MOTHERHOOD AWARDS

Philadelphia, PA: Motherhood will be celebrated, and rewarded on Saturday, May 10, when RENI Ministries, the Philadelphia-based singing and evangelizing Christian organization hosts the 2nd, 2008 edition of its annual National Motherhood Award at Holiday Inn Stadium, in Philadelphia, PA.

RENI Ministries  CEO, Reni Adebayo-Ige says that the event - the second to date -  was conceived and designed to acknowledge as well as publicized the vital role of mothers as a building block of the family and the larger society. This and similar steps Reni sees as of urgent importance in the face of ‘threatening post modernist values’. To this end, Mothers’ Day 2008 will honor selected model mothers from various walks of life with the prestigious National Motherhood Award.

The event this year will also serve as a platform to build a network of what she terms ‘distant mothers’ who will sponsor the education of African orphans, a philanthropy in which her organization is already very much active. Currently, the RENI Scholarship Fund for African Orphans, its ‘vision partners’, pays full tuition for middle and high schools orphans in the African countries of  Nigeria, Sierra Leone,  Uganda and the Central African Republic. She explained: “I lost my mother at age seven and my father even much earlier. In truth I had so much love around me but the role of the mother in a child’s life is not quantifiable. So, I know too well how it feels to grow up an orphan and having understood God’s call upon my life, I realize that He has brought me this far, and particularly to a nation so abundantly blessed as the US, in order to speak and act for Africa’s orphans”. The 39 year-old Nigerian mother of three sees motherhood as an incomparable love- centered nurturing act which is not bound by time or space. Thus, it is perfectly possible to be based in the US or indeed anywhere else and ‘mother’ a child in any corner of the global village.
The 2008 National Motherhood Award Recipients are:-

Mother Yemisi Babajide
Mother Grace Bassey
Mother Hyacinth Brown
Mother Nikki Famakinwa
Mother Ify Onuoha
Mother Christine Wiggins

RENI Ministries is a multi-function organization that, in addition to Mothers Day and RENI Scholarship Fund for African Orphans, also holds a yearly inter-denominational Christmas party for children and teens in the Philadelphia area. RENI Music has also released two gospel albums.
