 HOPE FOR A DISTRESSED FATHER

The Bible gave an interesting story of Jesus meeting a very desperate and distressed father. Prior to this encounter, Jesus was at the mountain where he was transfigured and he had fellowship with Moses and Elijah. Jesus returned from this holy convocation to meet hopeless and confused situations:-
a)      A father distressed.
b)      A lunatic child.
c)      Ineffective disciples.

 THE SITUATION

The father had been living with his son for years and the boy had serious lunatic symptoms (convulsion, foaming at the mouth, epileptic and seizures). What a pity for this father! Today, there are many distressed fathers out there in our neighborhood, streets, etc. Many could be  distressed due to:-

v     Displaced or distanced fatherhood: statistics show that about 40% of children in the United States will sleep without tonight without their father in their homes.
v   Children involvement in school violence
v     Sicknesses etc.
v     In adequate time for the family

Perhaps you are not a father; you may equally be in a distressed situation (lack of a good job for living, serious debt conditions, late in mortgage payment etc.

 THE PLEA

The distressed father pleaded with Jesus’  nine disciples that did not go mountain for a solution to his son’s predicament. They tried but failed to get the boy cured. The father was desperate. Thus he took his case to the omnipotent Christ when the opportunity existed. On seeing Jesus, he made a plea and Jesus mentioned that he needs to believe;  the distressed father cried out, LORD HELP MY UN-BELIEF.  Are you very desperate of your situations today, you too can take your case to Jesus. Whatever situation that is making distressed today, you too need to be desperate; get into your closet and cried to Jesus to help your un-belief. 

 HOPE RESTORED

Hope came to the father from the only source that springs out HOPE. The disciples of Jesus were very impotent to the conditions of the boy, but Jesus restored HOPE to the father. Jesus instantly rebuked of the evil spirit and the child was healed. Jesus lifted him up and gave him to the father. It is over 2000 years that this father got HOPE in his distress, JESUS has not changed, he is the same yesterday, today and forever.. There is no HOPE in any other place or any other person, just turn to JESUS and He will cure your distress situations.
